I was finally diagnosed with LP yesterday, having started with an itchy skin 8 mths ago. At first I blamed it on the usual suspects, washing powder, body lotion, etc. I tried changing these for other products but there was no improvement. The itching became worse as we moved into warmer weather and I ended up with bright red patches on my shins and arms. At the same time as this happened I was diagnosed with Gall Stones and an operation was arranged to remove the Gall Bladder by keyhole surgery. 2 GP's did wonder if the GB trouble was affecting my skin (the GB can affect the liver, which in turn can affect the skin), I had a blood test but it proved negative. But it does seem strange that both conditions developed at about the same time. Since the operation (last week) I've made a good recovery except the LP which has become very serve (to quote the consultant), it now other 80% of my limbs and I would say approx 70% of my trunk, luckily none around the vagina, mouth, face, feet or hands but some in my scalp. At the moment I'm only being treated with Dermovate becasue the consultant didn't want to dose me up with oral steroids until I got over my operation.

The itching is driving me mad I can't seem to get any respite from it

Jay

I had three hospital stays this year.varicos vein op then gall stone removed from bile duct. After being in severe pain for four months i finally had my gall bladder removed.Left hospital with a rash (was not there when i went in) over my shoulder and arms.Since then it has spread over most of my body and into my mouth.Today diagnosed with L.P. I do not get the itching much, maybe its because i use aqueous cream to shower with. have used it for years because of dry skin.

I was diagnosed with LP yesterday by a specialist who I had been refered me to. He was the 4th doctor I had seen in 4 weeks - the others all thought I had come out in spots as a result of an allergic reaction - one though it might be hand, foot & mouth !

I had previously been presrcibed dermovate cream which hasn't really helped much - I found anthisan actually helped ease the itching more.

Now have been put on a course of steroids for the next 6 weeks to hopefully sort things out but I was told there is no rhyme or reason for getting it, it is not contagious, just very uncomfortable.
