Hi Dave, thanks for starting the new thread. Sorry you not feeling too good at times, If you're mad, so are we all ! Is work being a pain at the moment, making you so tired maybe ? I think that even when our bloods are ok, this thyroid problem still kicks in and makes us feel rough. It seems to rob us of strength and stamina at times. I'm glad you're getting your bloods checked though. Haven't heard from Elaine, don't know whether to assume its because she's ok or whether to be concerned that she's gone completely quiet. I miss her posts and hope all is well with her. Hope everyone else ok today. Bess xx

Hello everyone who has moved over to part 3,

I feel a bit better, thank goodness, Bess, Marigold. you were right the carbs must be starting to do their stuff. I had forgotten just how bad it can get without antithyroid meds so it took me a bit by surprise.

Dave thanks for the new thread, sorry you are not right at present. I didn't know that you had eye problems, have you always had it or has it come on recently. Have you got other things going on or is it purely GD related.

I have to do a half pay thing with work on Tuesday which I am dreading and will be glad once that is over.

Hope everyone else is doing the best that they can.

    Hi All,

Found Part 3, thanks Dave, sorry you are not doing so well at the moment, its hard when you have been having a run of good days no wonder you are fed up, stick in and hopefully you will start feeling a bit better.

I'm still okay, heart calmed down just jumps every now and then but I've been stuck in bed the last couple of days with a sinus infection. I seemed to have lost 2lbs also this week now my first thought is that's it I'm going hyper again but then my friend reminded me that I have been doing more exercise and have been a bit more careful with what I'm eating, so who knows at least its 2 off and not on!

Jane your work must be a worry for you at the moment, do you work full time? I got my new contract today for my new role which I'm supposed to start on 7th June hopefully I will be okay. I only work 20 hours a week used to be 25 but I reduced them as 20 is about all I can handle. My boss is being quite understanding well at the moment anyway, at least you are making the effort to keep in contact. I know how you feel about just resigning I feel like that some days to, whats your half day for?

    How is everyone else?

    Take Care,

Hi everyone. I've just come over from the other side. I mean from part 2 to part 3. Thanks Dave.

I'm pleased you've got your laptop speeded up Sue. What is it with plumbers? Our wash basin starting leaking last week. The plumber came out, but couldn't repair it then so said he'd be back. I think we've seen the last of him. I hope all your new medication works. Are you feeling better generally? I hope your daughters enjoyed their trip to Liverpool. I'm tired today. We had our little granddaughter staying last night, and we've had a little party for our son's birthday today. I feel fine when I'm just plodding along from day to day, but anything extra and it tires me out, but I feel great compared to how I felt before. Take carexxxx.

Dave, Do you think your eyes bulge less after the RAI? I think mine do, but it could just be wishful thinking. I'm going to the opticians next week as my right eye doesn't feel quite right somehow. Sorry you're not feeling too good at the moment.

Hi Jane. I'm pleased you're feeling a bit better. You have enough to cope with without worrying about work. I hope it works out ok.

Hi Kat. I hope you're feeling better. Sinus infections are awful, really painful. I'm pleased your heart is settling down. I haven't been very careful with what I'm eating today. Trifle and birthday cake, but I enjoyed it and that's the main thing.

Hope you are ok Bess. Have you found any more tasty biscuits? smile

    Hope everyone else is coping.

    Take care everyone.

    Hi all,

Dave how wierd that the eye thing just comes along over a year later, I suppose it could be much worse.

Kat, It's half pay not half day because I have been off work for 4 and a half months now, not sure if it's my typing or your reading!

I have quite a stressfull job and manage a team of 15 people, full time, working shifts. The problem is that my thyroid is not controlled at present and back overactive so I will probably have to go on to half pay for a short time untill the dust settles so to speak.

Apart from bieng obviously hyper, I feel pretty poor most of the time, am tearfull, forgetfull, hormonal and have absolutely no stamina or self confidence. I would love to go part time just to get back in to it. This is a definate improvement as it is not all of the time!!!!!!!

Speak soon, hope all are well.

    Hi All,

Jane sorry its my reading I thought you had to go in for a half day! Your job sounds pretty full on, it must be hard enough without having to do it whilst overactive. You seem to be worst than ever since RAI I hope it starts to kick in soon for you. I think the hard thing about going back to work apart from a lack of confidence is not being able to plan for the bad days, potentially we could be in 2 days then off for 1 etc which no employer is going to look to kindly upon, maybe part time is the next step for you, once you get your thyroid under control of course.

This is my last week of isolation it actually ends on Wednesday but the doctor signed me of till beginning of next week which I'm not complaining about, dreading going back to work especially straight into a new job hope I'm up to it! Like Jane my confidence is not very high at the moment.

Sue your magic wand sounds fantastic, if only eh!

Dave sorry about your eyes funny it happening so long after RAI, I suppose its one of the symptoms of Graves which as we all know we have not only for christmas but for life :-)

Marigold, Bess, Barry hope you are all okay?

    Take Care,

    Kat xxxx

    Hey again people,

Ooo part 3, sounds like everyone is starring in a film trilogy or something.

Well i have been pretty busy worrying about everything and anything i can. When i step back and look at it i realize how silly some of it seems. Sleeping is doing ok ish although at the end of the month i have a couple of big days planned and its before days like those that i usually struggle. Need to book a blood test in the next week or so. My gf had her 1st ever blood test last week and was moaning how much it hurt. Funny how when you have them all the time they don't seem as daunting.

I seem to be doing ok apart from that. I read how everyone is doing and it seems like i have not suffered anywhere near as badly as i could have done. But i still have a way to go i think. Just wish i could fast forward to october and see what awaits me there.

    Anyways talk soon.

    Hi Everyone,

Well had my bloods done yesterday and just had a phone call from my GP to say I'm overactive again T4 = 40 she didn't give me my TSH but I will phone the results line this afternoon and get it. I knew I was hyper as a lot of the old symptoms started to rear their ugly heads again! Jane I seem to be following the same path as you. The GP didn't want to interfere with the Consultant so she just signed me off work again till the 13th and told me to phone the Consultant which I did. He said he hoped that it was just a blip and my levels should start to come down again, he didn't want to put me on Carbs again until he sees me next week.

So disappointed I really hope I don't have to do the RAI again, I know its early days so I am praying that it is just a blip.

Sue I'm so sorry you are feeling so bad I think you should get your bloods done and soon, is there anyway you can speak to your Consultant on the phone or try and get your appointment brought forward?

    Hope everyone else doing okay?

    Hi everyone.

Hi Kat. I went hyper too after I'd had the RAI, it is quite common. The RAI causes the thyroid to chuck the thyroxine it's storing into the blood stream. I was very fortunate, my endo put me back on block and replace with carbs and thyroxine to cover that period so I felt fine. I wouldn't be worrying about having the RAI again for a long time yet. It's taken six months for my levels to sort themselves out. I'm having my bloods checked every two weeks and my T4 and TSH are up and down like a yo yo, but it's just because I haven't got on the right dose of thyroxine yet. I'm on 75 at the moment, but I've been summonsed to the docs so I think it'll have to come down to 50. I'll get there in the end.

Hi Sue. I'm sorry you're feeling awful hun. My endo didn't let me go hypo as I have eye problems and it would have made them worse.

I agree with Kat, I think you should get your bloods done soon. It's a long time to your next endo appointment. I'd be kicking up a bit of a fuss and asking for it to be brought forward. Do they tell you what your results are, or do they just say they're normal? I always ask for mt T4 and TSH then I know what's happening.

    Take care.

    Hope everyone else is ok.

    love,

    Marigold

    Hi all,

Sue, bless you, Kat and Marigold are right, make that call because you are feeling so not yourself, why suffer when something can be done about it. xx

Kat, wierd or what, looks like you are following my pattern to the letter, bless you too! It was awful but I have started to feel a bit less desperate and more like myself the last couple of days so it does pass.

Marigold are you struggling in this heat, it's 27 degrees here today.

Hubby's doing okay, the bandaging is off his hands and he has started a bit of physio. He absolutely detests the back brace because it's like a big plastic basque with velcro instead of lace and he is boiling in this warm weather. Poor thing is going to have to wear it till August so I can't complain can I!

Hope all are are well as they can be.

    Hello everyone.

Hi Jane. I'm struggling with the heat, I hate being hot and sticky. It's been even hotter today, but it's supposed to get cooler. It must be awful for your poor husband all wrapped up like that. He must be really uncomfortable. It's good news that he's got the bandages off his hands though.

I'm pleased you're feeling a bit better, long may it continue.

How are you today Sue? I hope you're coping a bit better.

    Hope everyone else is ok.

    love,

    Marigold

Hi everyone, Its been a beautiful day ! Sue, so sorry you're not feeling too good, to be depressed and in pain is awful. Thinking of you and wishing you better.

Kat, a T4 of 40 must be really uncomfortable to say the least, I bet its just a blip and you'll soon feel better, I've got my fingers crossed for you.

Jane, pleased your hubby is coming along ok, hope you're not getting too tired !. Marigold, I'm still muching the Aztec biscuits, 2 am today with a cup of tea, blasted insomnia. I hope you are ok my friend. I have had a crappy 2/3 weeks with migraine aura but ok the last two days. Have put myself back on Propanolol 20 mgs. for a bit till things settle down. Otherwise, not feeling too bad but dreading the next visit to the GP in case my blood pressure's up, - if I worry about it, it will be.

If only I had a switch on my brain that would go to \"calm\" on command! Had a phone call today from a friend who's 86 and still goes out to work - there's hope for us all ! Love to you all, hope Barry, Chris, Dave and everyone ok. Bess xx
