Hey everyone,

been on sertraline for two years now. started with 50mg then went up to 100 after a couple of months. have now recently went back on to 50mg. side effects have changed throughout starting with shakes and sickness, a few weeks later that stopped and heart palpitations started..which was quite scary, i felt as if my chest would burst. that then sopped and for about a year i had the night sweats and not sleeping, now i am back on the 50's i feel a bit down at times  and have problems with 'dry eyes' due to sertraline. i feel may never be able to come off them. its good to be able to write down how you feel, cause no-one understands!

    Hey Mags

ive just come off setraline after 6 months on 50mgs I found they didnt agree with me, sickness and shakes to start with then night sweats like yourself and still having those black days...ive now started on 20mgs of fluoxetine(prozac) i find this much better, no side effects and the black cloud has gone. I was on prozac 5 years ago and they worked wonders..i went from being a total worried stressed out mess to not giving a s**t about anything..was great! maybe you should talk to your doctor about trying something different?

    Hi everyone,

I came off Sertraline 50 mg, after taking them for 6 months and then coming off of them over 3 months, so in total 9 months. I was feeling great, but about 5 weeks after stopping them I start feeling unwell again and every day I feel worse.... sick, poor appetite, weak, anxiety, burst in tears  etc. I don't know really if that is withdrawal reaction :?:

Please is anyone who has stopped taking Sertralin, how long take to wear off all these symptoms if they are withdrawal?

I am sorry that you have not had any replies. I did not experience the symptoms you have experienced when coming off. I do not think they are withdrawal symptoms as you have come of slowly and after 5 weeks you should have been clear of withdrawal symptoms. I did experience some anxiety about whether I would be ok but that had gone in about a month after coming off. I hope things work out for you.

Ive only been on Setraline for 7 months and decided to take myself off due to numerous side effects. Itching, Shaking, night sweats, it seemed to help with the depression and anxiety but not sure if its worth it for all the other things. Also not a good week since i quit cold turkey instead of slowly coming off them. Just recently found web like markings all over my legs and some other severe symptoms and dr is saying possible Lupus. Looked it up and Setraline causes Lupus Like Symptoms.. Is there any other meds like setraline for anxiety dr wants me off for at least 3 weeks before i can start something new but im leaning more towards all natural stuff just not sure what.

Sorry to learn that Sertraline has such bad side effects for you. My wife takes Cipralex for anxiety and has found it be good for her. Fortunately I am OK at the moment. Previously I was on Effexor which I thought was a bit better than Sertlanina but side effects similar and very difficult to come off.

Obviously if you can get by on natural products and relaxation that is the answer. Good luck
