I also had a dry cough with Lisinopril and I am now taking Losartan without any problems so go and ask your G.P.:D

This has been my experience too: I was first prescribed Lisinopril for hypertension but developed a persistent dry cough which is a known side effect. I went first to my pharmacist to query this and was advised to ask my GP for a change of drug as the pharmacist was already aware of patients needing to switch.

My GP told me that Lisinopril would have been a better treatment as it is more effective but that some bodies cannot tolerate it. He switched me to Losartan Pottasium (50mg daily) about four years ago and gave advice on diet and exercise. I now regularly follow this advice and the Losartan regime with no side identifiable side effects - bar one. I have now been free of headaches in all this time! An extraordinary beneficial side effect! I am a married grandfather of 63 but now feel 43!

I have just asked my Doctor to change my medication from lisinipril, because I too had a bad cough - enough nearly to make me vomit, and I had a skin rash on both my lower legs.

I stopped taking my medication for two weeks, without seeing my Doctor, and found my symptums changed for the better.

As of today he has put me on Losartan - see how that goes.
