I have recently been diagnosed with pityriasis rosea. The condition started as a small red ring-like lesion. Initially i thought it was ringworm due to the shape of the lesion, however, it was not itchy. The skin lesion got bigger over a period of three days (5-6 cm in diameter)I tried treating the area with Tinaderm drops with no improvement. After another 3 days, a whole lot of red spots have appeared on my abdomen, axillary areas and back region. There are a few scattered on the upper parts of my thighs. I have had a mild headache with "flu"-like symptoms. Also a bit of itchiness in my scalp area. Will have to wait to see how long this condition takes to go away.

I suffered with this some years ago after a weekend away. My doctor said I has probably picked it up from the bed linnen. After 'the herald' other smaller spots started to appear in an inverted Xmas tree pattern (no joke!) all accross my abdomen. The good news is that they didn't remain long and there was no lasting damage.

Lucky I went to the doctors when i did - my dad was just about try out a home remady for ringworm!!!!!! rubbing verdegree (from a 2p piece soaked in vinagar) on the herald spot - see it could have been worse!

I am in the ninth week of what doctors have described to me as PR. What a roller coster. Three doctors later and finally a visit to the dermatologist next week ( too bad most of the rash has dissappeared) It all started after I finished a 2 week run of atibiotics for an infection of some type in my abdomen. First doctor told me allergic reaction - second told me some type of fungal infection and the third told me Pitoriasis Rosea. I have been terribly itchy ( mostly at night )for ten weeks now and I think I am on the road to recovery. It is too bad that this rash is so hard for doctors to diagnose cause they scare the pants off you - std, scabies etc etc etc. I still get a little itchy at night and some of my rash areas are scabs now from scratching so much. I hope this never comes back. So I guess we will see what the dermatoligist says next week as I took pictures of the awful rash.

Actually I noticed a crust on my feet thinking it was just a corn/callous peeling off. Not until I went to my dermatologist for my monthly acne check up when she noticed wrinkled circles on my back. She said that it was just PR. I thought it was just some form of skin disorder and would go away if i followed her prescription, she gave me a cream and tea-tree soap. After 2 weeks, I noticed an itchy red spot on my arm which started to itch, then it got bigger and bigger and strated to multiply. I sought another docyor, a skin pathologist. Same diagnosis. I put on a steroid type of lotion on my skin and used oatmeal soap for my bath. It just got worse and worse. My skin was filled with crusts, my back, whole of my arms and even appearing on my legs, my chest,my arms, my soles and my palms. I went back to my doctor and he wondered why i have crust on my sole. Though he said in rare cases the crust could form there. I was really worried because it has the same symptoms as syphilis or psoriasis. I was really depressed. I event took a vdrl test to rule out syphilis. my crust was not as thick as psoriasis but with the same areas it manifest unlike the normal pityriasis rosea. I even went for nude sunbathing hoping that photolight could lessen the crust. I was like a walking peeling zombie. I can't even wear my sleeveless or even a 3/4s. I needed to wear longsleeves and jeans/slacks. It was already my 6th mth and it hadn't improved. We even experimented on erthromycin intake. 2 weeks and no change at all. I decided to put all my medicine away... My father recommended virgin coconut oil. Every day, i took 2 spoonfuls and put on coconut oil on my entire body after taking a bath. After my morning bath, I just put on lotion. But in my evening bath, I put on the coco oil before I sleep. And after 1 mth, the spots just faded away and in my 8 1/2 months of suffering of pityriasis rosea, it all disappeared. Though I still get some spots everynow and then but they are not noticable and they are manageable. I just rub some coco oil on them and in 3 days they disappear. I am not a medical doctor to say that virgin coconut oil cured me but it's safe to try. Of course, do these with prayers and faith. It is always safe to ask God for help. If you have any inquiries, feel free to email me at **** :ok:
